This site is like life... a work in progress
Does it feel like something's missing in your life? Does contentment elude you no matter how much you strive? Are there times when you hear yourself say, "when I get a new job" or "when I make enough money" or "when I meet the right person", then I'll really be happy? It can be tough to figure out what you want and need. Painful feelings may overwhelm you, leaving you drained and disappointed, squashing your hopes for inner peace. You may wonder if your life will ever be different.
Maybe you feel as if you are repeatedly drawn into relationships that leave you frustrated and wrung out. Perhaps you wonder if you have what it takes to navigate the challenging waters of relationships. Whether you feel at odds with loved ones or with yourself it can feel like your situation will never change. No matter if the struggle is with yourself, your spouse or partner, a family member, or a friend, relationship snags hurt and can be difficult and messy to sort through.
While family and friends may volunteer advice and opinions (often unsolicited!) , a counselor or therapist can assist you free of value judgments and bias about how things "should" be. You can sort out and make sense of your thoughts without being pressured into decisions that don't fit you. You can discover new perspectives, master new tools, and practice ways to handle situations that may have baffled you. Recognizing that you're spinning in circles takes courage and strength. I'd like to help.
Why not contact me to see how counseling may help you to turn things around? My office is in the Albany, New York area. You can reach me by phone at (518) 456-7030. You will never have to speak with a receptionist or answering service and can leave a confidential voicemail if I'm not available when you call. If you'd like to reach me by email- it's [email protected].
I offer a competitive sliding fee scale for individual and couples counseling. You can choose daytime or evening hours. While I don't take insurance, some insurance companies may reimburse you and if you have a HSA (health savings account) you can usually deduct counseling/therapy fees from it.
Benefits to you in not using insurance are:
-Privacy about your use of counseling services; there is no paper trail indicating your participation in counseling.
-We can streamline your treatment to YOUR needs rather than being dictated to by your insurance company in terms of how we work together and how many sessions you have..
- You can avoid receiving a psychiatric diagnosis, which is required by insurance companies in order for you to use insurance benefits.
